ABOUT ALEXANDRA YAKSICH
Hi, I’m Alex — a big-hearted animal advocate, writer, animal health technician, and policy change-maker who believes that animal welfare should be driven by both compassion and evidence (of which we have plenty). I’ve spent the last several years in veterinary clinics across Montréal, supporting animals and the people who love them. From nutritional consults and behavior guidance to treatment support and client education. I’m known for building trust, easing anxiety, and helping clients make empowered choices for their companions. But my work doesn’t stop at the exam table. In 2022, I launched a province-wide petition to ban non-therapeutic, non-preventive procedures like declawing, tail docking, ear cropping, and devocalization. I collaborated with veterinary associations, welfare groups, the media and public, wrote relentlessly, and gathered signatures. All leading to regulatory change in early 2025. All to protect animals. Now, I use my voice (and platform) to speak out on animal care ethics, veterinary industry reform, and the importance of centering animal freedoms in everything we do. Whether I’m writing, consulting, speaking, or working hands-on, my goal is always the same: to make life better for animals and the people who care for them.
