Alexandra Sharp is the writer of Foreign Policy’s flagship daily newsletter, World Brief. Prior to joining FP as a deputy copy editor, she launched a podcast series and conducted threat analysis for Genocide Watch, covered higher education at the Columbia Missourian, and oversaw the city life section at Vox Magazine. Her work has appeared in Washington Monthly as well as on the BBC, CBS, and American Prestige. She has reported in Costa Rica on climate change, immigration, and energy, and was awarded the Aspen Ideas Ifill Fellowship in 2023 and the Penn Kemble Fellowship in 2024. A Chicago native, Alexandra studied magazine journalism and international studies at the University of Missouri.

Much of my reporting has centered on Russia\'s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Israel-Hamas war, threats to democratic elections, great-power competition, humanitarian crises in the global south, tech and artificial intelligence, climate change, and trade policy.Alongside the daily newsletter, I write explainers, Q & As, and analyses on major international law concerns. My work has covered genocide designations, war crimes allegations, defense and security threats, and shifting systems of government.
