About Alexandra Degaray

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from American University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in International Studies in May 2023. While at American, I played Division 1 volleyball for three years and made the Patriot League Honor Roll each year. In addition, I consecutively made the Dean’s List throughout my entire time as an undergrad. Apart from volleyball, I was a leader in the faith-based club known as Alpha. In my final semester, I was a research assistant for Professor Davies where I gathered and analyzed archives relating to European law and the Court of Justice of the European Union. Additionally, I wrote a Juris Mentem for American University’s Undergrad Law Review about European Constitutionalism. I am now a 3L at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. My 1L fall I competed in the Dispute Resolution Society’s internal competition. My 2L spring, I competed in the Moot Court’s internal competition. I am also taking classes that are part of my Intellectual Property Concentration. Apart from this, I am an active member of several student organizations. I served as President of the Christian Legal Society and International Law Society, and Vice President of Hofstra’s Energy and Environmental Law Society. My 1L summer, I was the legal intern at Leviton. In addition, I was a research assistant for Professor Colleen Campbell up until November. In this position, I drafted memoranda addressing specific questions related to race and gender including, but not limited to, health discrimination and the intersection of law and medicine across various socio-legal phenomena. Currently, I am a research assistant for Professor Ronald Colombo. This research is focused on corporate and religious law. In addition, I am an extern for Honorable Nelson S Román in the Southern District of NY. I recently obtained my CIPP/US certification from the IAPP, which focuses on the US privacy sector as well as some background information on the GDPR.
