Alexandra is a 2019 graduate of Michigan State University\'s Honors College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minors in French and Film Studies. During this time, she gained experience in private practice, research, and higher education settings. Afterwards, she gained clinical experience in community mental health before entering graduate school, where she gained experience with LGBTQ+ non-profit community work and inpatient hospital settings. When that school program wasn\'t the right fit, she made a brief detour into the legal and compliance spaces. Now, she\'s back in the behavioral health field and using all of her experience to be a successful clinical and administrative/operations professional, first with the LGBTQ+ community again and now with children and adolescents. Within the past few years, she has gained significant expertise in mental health billing and insurance. Though she still does some intake work, her primary focus is explaining complex insurance matters to clients, handling office billing operations, and effective revenue cycle management.On the side, she still does academic publishing and associated media and writings on asexuality. These are passion projects that show her commitment to minoritized groups, building awareness, and advocacy.    Verify all insurances prior to daily intake calls, allowing Intake Coordinators to communicate cost to potential clients- Re-verify insurance for current clients as needed, including following up with clients whose insurance has expired to obtain new information- Regularly connect with insurance companies for insurance verification- Handle incoming calls and emails related to billing/financial questions with precision, care, thorough explanation, and efficiency- Handle internal billing requests and questions from the intake team and therapists- Participate in regular team meetings to communicate billing updates to all intake/operations team members- Issue refunds as needed- Collaborate with therapists and the intake team regarding clients\' billing matters and provide updates on any billing team changes- Assist clients with setting up autopay and changing credit cards on file if needed- Assist with offering clients payment plan options and transitions to cash pay or sliding scale as needed- Generate and send superbills to clients to assist them with record keeping or out of network reimbursement- Created and maintain billing/insurance training materials and guides for internal use- Train new intake and operations members on insurance and billing processes- Actively work to enhance timely collection of appropriate fees and overall revenue cycle- Highly proficient in working with our EHR system (Welkin), Availity, insurance portals, our claims processing system (Candid), Stripe, Slack, and Google products- Continue to conduct intake calls and assist the intake team.
