ABOUT ALEXANDER LOPEZ

I am a Policy and Public Affairs Executive at the Global Infrastructure Investor Association (GIIA), the membership body representing the world’s leading institutional investors in infrastructure. I lead engagement with policymakers, regulators, and investors to advance policy frameworks that support sustainable, long-term private investment in infrastructure. My work spans energy, digital infrastructure, and regulated utilities, with a focus on advancing regulatory frameworks that enable effective deployment of private capital. I author strategic thought leadership, contribute to industry consultations, and develop evidence-based policy positions that reflect the priorities of institutional investors. I recently completed my Master’s degree at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in International Social and Public Policy, specialising in sustainability, energy, and climate policy. My academic research, paired with my professional experience, has reinforced my commitment to public policy that supports climate-resilient economic growth. Intercultural experience has been critical in the development of my abilities and identity. Although I am originally from the United States, I spent half a year in high school with a Japanese family in Hokkaido, Japan, and finished the last two years of my undergraduate degree in Madrid, Spain (one year of the two with a Spanish family). These experiences have honed my leadership, analytical, interpersonal, communication and language skills.
