ABOUT ALEXANDER FUNG
Alexander is a dedicated leader and project manager who spearheads innovative and collaborative initiatives aimed at uplifting communities and improving residents\' quality of life. As part of the City of Eastvale\'s Executive Team, Alexander shoulders responsibilities that encompass overseeing economic development, workforce development, community growth, and government relations projects. His pivotal role involves expanding Eastvale\'s business attraction and retention efforts, securing additional funding and revenue streams for the City, collaborating with congressional and state legislators to achieve the City Council\'s goals, and leading the Western Inland Empire\'s efforts to prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.Prior to his tenure at the City of Eastvale, Alexander contributed significantly to the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG), a subregional government planning agency in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. In various capacities within the agency, he initiated and led high-impact projects in transportation, sustainability, land use, public outreach, and solid waste management, benefiting the two million residents of the San Gabriel Valley. Noteworthy achievements include securing over $9.6 million for the agency and initiating Los Angeles County\'s largest wildfire prevention outreach program, VMT mitigation study, municipal food recovery program, and coyote management program.Beyond Eastvale, Alexander serves as the Vice Chair and Commissioner for the City of Cupertino\'s Sustainability Commission in Silicon Valley. Previously, he was the Chair of the Economic Development Advisory Commission for the City of Monterey Park from 2020 to 2024. Alexander also currently serves as a Board Member and the Scholarships/Events Chair for the California Chapter of the International City/County Management Association (Cal-ICMA). He contributes to academia by providing lectures at UCLA and USC on various local government topics. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Southern California, Alexander is fluent in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin. Alexander holds a Master of Public Policy degree with distinctions from UCLA and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with the highest honor of \"Chancellor\'s Award of Distinction\" from UC Irvine. Recently, he received multiple distinguished awards such as the 2025 UCLA Bruin Excellence in Civic Engagement Award, the 2025 Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) Top 100 Local Government Influencer Award, and the 2024 City of Eastvale\'s Manager of the Year Award.
