ABOUT ALEXANDER KASK

I am a partner at Guild Yule LLP, a law firm in Vancouver comprising 40 lawyers who provide full-spectrum legal services. My practice focuses on litigation in the following areas: municipal law, professional liability, health law, insurance law, product liability, administrative law, human rights law, and personal injury. I have been an instructor and lecturer for the Paralegal Certification Program at Vancouver Community College, the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, and the Canadian Bar Association Insurance Law Subsection. Prior to my legal career I was an Editor at the Charles E. Tuttle Publishing in Tokyo for nearly 5 years. While studying at UBC Law School I was a Litigation Analyst for the RCMP.I am the author of 5 publications on the Japanese language and have worked as an interpreter and translator. Since 1997 I have taught classical Japanese martial arts at the University of British Columbia. My teacher Ono Yotaro-sensei is the 16th lineal headmaster of the Bitchu-den lineage of Takenouchi-ryu, one of Japan\'s oldest martial traditions. In 2016, I was awarded a Shihandai (associate master) licence.Specialties: I have taken over 75 matters to full trial and have litigated cases at all levels of court in British Columbia. I have an interest in administrative law and have represented clients before the BC Safety Standards Appeal Board, BC Human Rights Tribunal, the BC Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal, and the Residential Tenancy Branch. A number of these cases have been reported and can be found on the websites for the courts or tribunals.
