About Alexander Yates
I am an award-winning writer and communications director with over 13 years of experience in international development. This includes three positions with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), most recently as the Senior Communications Officer for USAID/Ethiopia. With a background in creative writing and three award-winning books published by Random House and Simon & Schuster, I specialize in strategic communications and storytelling campaigns that captivate audiences to advance donor, agency and NGO goals. I have done those both from inside organizations, and from the outside—as the creative director of a development communications agency. There I designed communications and storytelling campaigns for clients including UNICEF, UNESCO, British Council, GiZ, FHI360, Tetra Tech, and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
