About Alexander Alex Walch Rojas

Born in Mexico City and raised between Bogotá, Panama City, and the D.C. metro area, I grew up navigating diverse cultures, languages, and communities. This global upbringing shaped my belief in education as a bridge. One that connects people, expands opportunity, and transforms futures. It’s also what makes Miami feel like home.I graduated from the University of Miami as a full‑tuition Foote Fellow Honors student, completing an ambitious academic path that included a double major in International Studies & Spanish and minors in Portuguese, Political Science, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and Anthropology with an Indigenous Studies Concentration. My commitment to global learning led me to earn the U.S. State Department’s Critical Language Scholarship, where I studied Portuguese in Florianópolis, Brazil. Despite a rigorous academic load, significant campus leadership, and multiple jobs, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.93 GPA and numerous honors.I am the only educator in Miami to complete both Teach For America (TFA) and the Teacher Accelerated Program (TAP) through AmeriCorps and Achieve, an uncommon dual pathway that launched my amazing career in Miami‑Dade County Public Schools. I have taught 5th, 7th, and 8th grade across core subjects, leading standards‑aligned instruction, data‑driven interventions, and community engagement efforts in one of Florida’s largest and most challenging Title I schools. My dedication to equity‑centered leadership and culturally responsive teaching earned me Rookie Teacher of the Year, along with a highly effective ranking.Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, I bring a blend of cultural fluency, academic rigor, and community‑rooted leadership to every space I enter. I believe education opens doors, so my mission is to help students and communities walk through them with confidence.
