ABOUT ALEXANDER SCHMITT
I am a seasoned corporate and commercial lawyer whose practice focusses on domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, corporate insolvencies, restructuring and debtor/creditor disputes. I have represented key stakeholders - including debtors, bondholder groups, court officers (incl. receivers, monitors and trustees), lenders, sellers and acquirors - in some of Canada\'s most complex and high-profile restructurings, recapitalizations and distressed financing and M&A transactions. Outside of the distressed context, I regularly lead both buy and sell-side M&A transactions, and provide corporate and commercial across a wide array of clients and industries, including start ups, private equity and public companies in the software/SaaS, renewable energy, commercial property, financial services, retail, manufacturing, construction and healthcare industries.
