The SCAL Pharmacy Chief Operating Officer provides executive leadership and management of the Area Pharmacy Directors and their teams to assure consistent high levels of performance in pharmaceutical care, service, and operations across the outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory care practice settings. Partners with Regional and Service Area leadership, Labor leadership, and Medical Group leadership to provide direction and oversight to maintain and improve operational performance. The COO reports to the VP, SCAL Pharmacy Operations Leader and collaborates with National Pharmacy Leaders in the development and execution of strategy for delivery of pharmaceutical care, service and operations in Southern California. The focus of these strategies is to enhance clinical care delivery; optimally utilize and integrate centralized support services and technology; evaluate and deliver innovation, and establish goals and metrics for the teams he/she leads. In addition, the COO for Pharmacy Operations is accountable to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance across the care continuum, in partnership with national and regional compliance. Provides leadership to ensure the professional/management development at the individual level for the Area Pharmacy Directors and their direct reports that provide for high performing Service Area teams and personnel necessary for the long-term success of Pharmacy Services in Kaiser Permanente. Partners with Regional and Service Area leadership to ensure pharmacy space needs are incorporated into the Service Area master planning activities. Participates in and provides leadership for the development of the operating budget across Service Areas Monitor performance against budgets and makes appropriate adjustments to achieve financial goals.
