About Alexander Barker

As a Applications Engineer Manager at McCrometer, I have immersed myself in a global market providing essential engineering services to our customers. I provide engineering support to customers in a wide range of industries from oil and gas to defense and municipal markets while managing expectations to internal customers for Project Management. In keeping with the high standards our customers expect, I have adapted my people and time management skills to complete tasks with rigorous delivery schedules. My work at McCrometer has allowed me to not only develop my management skills but to apply my technical engineering knowledge to flex my time and step in and resume full engineering support duties when customer demand is high. For the past 6 years, while working full time, I have been a part-time student at the University of Southern California earning my MS in Systems Architecture and Engineering. The program has given me a true understanding of systems thinking and the ability to see how solving problems at the lower level feeds into an organizations strategic success. My studies emphasized both the layout of novel system architectures as well as the practical application of systems requirement management. In lecture we went over theory and each class ended with the completion of a final Project. Some project were papers analyzing interdependencies of existing systems. Other electives focused on project management where I used my management skills to deconflict tensions in the team when we were behind. We always finished the project on-time. I was a seven-year member of the Boy Scouts of America and received my Eagle Scout award on February 12, 2007. I am a detail oriented individual who is not shy in asking and answering tough questions and able to efficiently and diligently execute any task handed down to me. I excel at problem solving, clear and effective communication, public presentations and the ability to answer questions when put under the spotlight. Change is always necessary for true growth, I welcome it and always look for ways in which I can improve.
