ABOUT ALEXANDER AYALA

Alex\'s main focus is giving back to his community through various volunteer organizations, but his number one priority is public safety.Alex volunteers with multiple organizations throughout the greater Milwaukee area to help improve the quality of life of his community.Alex is a first generation Mexican American proud son of immigrants. A Milwaukee native and longtime resident of Milwaukee. He has a strong background in law enforcement, public safety, city & state government and community involvement.Alex has served with the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) for over 22 years and has worked for multiple police districts and specialty units. Alex has dedicated himself to the City of Milwaukee since early on by joining the department after graduating high school as a Police Aide and later becoming a Police Officer, and now a Detective.Alex currently serves as the Milwaukee Police Associations\' Vice President.Alex served with the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) Milwaukee Chapter for 11 years, V.P. for 2 years and 6 years as President. He was also a National Board Member and served as the National Association’s Parliamentarian.Alex has received numerous commendations and medals for his work and dedication to his career and community. In July of 2010, while Milwaukee was in chaos from heavy rain fall, Alex risked his life to save a pregnant woman from drowning in a raging Milwaukee river. He received a “Medal Of Valor\"- Rescue from Milwaukee Police Department and a “Heroic Action Award” from Milwaukee Police Association.In 2014 Alex received a “Community Champions Award” from Molina Healthcare for all of his volunteer work and community involvement. The NLPOA-Milwaukee Chapter awarded him with an “Outstanding Leadership Award” for his contributions to the chapter. The Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation awarded him and the chapter with the “Eagle Award” for a longstanding partnership with the Foundation.In July of 2016 while hosting a tailgate fundraiser at Miller Park for the NLPOA, Alex rescued a 6 year old boy with autism from the Menomonee river. For his heroic action he received a \"Life Saving Award\" from the Police Department. He was awarded a Citation from the Common Council. Alex was awarded the \"Hometown Heroes Award\" from the Wisconsin State Assembly and was also given a State Assembly Citation.
