ABOUT ALEXANDER AUDET
As the Director of Data & Technology at the Center for Education Reform (CER), a non-profit center on education freedom, I leverage my data science and education policy expertise to inform and influence decision makers on the best practices and innovations in the education sector. I collaborate with a diverse team of researchers, analysts, and advocates to design and deliver data-driven solutions and insights that support CER\'s mission and vision. Before joining CER, I was a data scientist at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where I worked on the Return to Learn Tracker (R2L), a project that tracks how over 8600 school districts in the United States are teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. By building a data pipeline that scrapes and processes district websites using machine learning models, I contributed to creating a valuable and widely cited resource for policymakers, educators, and the public. I also worked with Dr. Beth Akers on various education policy topics, such as student debt, college outcomes, and labor market trends. I have a Master of Arts degree in Politics and Education from Teachers College of Columbia University and an Executive Education certificate in Artificial Intelligence from Columbia Engineering. Additionally, I have multiple years of experience as a computer science and mathematics teacher at PTECH Norwalk, a school that prepares students for tomorrow\'s IT jobs, and as an adjunct lecturer at Norwalk Community College. I am passionate about using my lived experience as an educator and my skills as a data scientist to bring the stories of my students and the realities of the education system to the forefront of policy discussions.
