About Alex Wright

I immensely enjoyed my time working at the USAID President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) headquarters in Washington, D.C, as the Malaria Laboratory Advisor. I am a field-trained malariologist with 15 years of international experience in malaria control, primarily in East and West Africa. My areas of expertise include field collection of malaria samples (both blood and mosquito), building malaria laboratories, malaria laboratory procurement, molecular malaria surveillance, capacity strengthening, and implementing Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in vector control laboratories across 15 countries, including Tanzania, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d\'Ivoire, Mozambique, China, Malaysia, India, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. I am particularly passionate about connecting partners within the malaria laboratory space, and fostering collaboration in both entomology and parasitology to advance global malaria control efforts.
