About Alex Wood
I am an immigrant from Russia who came to the United States as an adoptee when I was eight months old. Growing up in a small town, I was very limited on what I could do in the motor sports field. However, I was active in my community in both high school and college as I took part in my high school’s marching band state championships for three straight years, competed on the track and cross country teams, and also began my work as a motor sports writer and historian at the age of 17 while attending online high school. I attended Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan and graduated in 2021.In college, I was active in many community engagement initiatives and student life, including (but not limited to) the Vice President of Project 1808 Club, Treasurer of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and I was also a Writing Center peer tutor. I majored in English composition, language, and literature while attending Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan and graduated with an Associate’s of the Arts in English in 2023.In August of 2024, I began attending Western Michigan University while continuing my work within motor sports ranging from writing articles, creating videos and podcasts, and occasionally PA at local races. I major in Digital Media and Sociology. I plan to receive my Bachelor of Arts in June of 2026.Outside of the workplace and classroom, I enjoy playing music on my guitar, fitness, video games, and watching sports. I am open to any and all work within the motor sports industry as I hope to eventually become a color commentator for NASCAR or another major professional sport.I am also a dual citizen of the United States of America and Russian Federation. I also speak both English and Russian but also have a limited working proficiency in Spanish as well.
