ABOUT ALEX REYNOLDS

As an experienced Physician Associate, I have developed key managerial, and leadership skills through my clinical and managerial experiences as well as the RCP medical leadership program. I have helped develop Physician Associate services, to contribute to efficient and cost effect care pathways for hospital trusts, notably developing the UCLH Muscle biopsy service, delivering real change to the way this is delivered. My experience in helping GP Practices and PCNs develop their Physician Associate workforce is extensive, and I am able to provide realistic service delivery, workforce changes and education to developing a sustainable and rewarding career for Physician Associates, as well as an effective work force for Physician Associates. Today as the Lead Physician Associate at University College London Hospitals I am developing a Physician Associate workforce across UCLH, developing the governance processes, recruitment, and educational platforms to deliver a multi-speciality, multi-professional work force of Physician Associates in one of the biggest trusts in the UK. Alongside my NHS work, I am also working with HCA Healthcare UK to develop the Physician Associate role in the UK private healthcare sector, and have recently develop a Physician Associate lead model for delivering the Paediatric scoliosis service at the Portland, to supple NHS work for 4 major London NHS trusts. I am the co-founder of Locum PA, currently the only provider of Locum Physician Associates to primary and secondary care in the UK. I am strongly convinced that PAs will shape and contribute to the building of a more effective healthcare system in the UK and the benefits which PAs give to junior doctors and consultants is quickly becoming a valuable asset. With my experience in various healthcare roles I have created my consultancy service – Reynolds Consultant group, which specialises in service redesign, delivery, and implementation, with Physician Associates in mind.
