ABOUT ALEX RAFFA

How does it work? From a young age this has been my favorite question to ask. I have always been determined to identify what elements make up an object and how they are pieced together. I have never been satisfied with a superficial understanding. Uncertainty motivates me to investigate further and the challenge of learning new concepts is invigorating. Growing up with the yearning to figure out how things work, I chose to study mechanical engineering in university. During the unstable job market brought about by COVID-19, I decided to add to my skills by taking an introductory Python course. From that point, I considered programming something I could pursue full-time. I found myself asking “how?” more than ever. Every time I stumble upon a new programming concept, I am inspired to develop a comprehensive understanding using all available resources. I am drawn to software development because it provides an endless list of topics to study. My first job in software was at PlaySpace, a company dedicated to empowering practitioners to provide engaging therapy for children I couldn\'t be happier with my first role transitioning from mechanical engineering. I strongly stand behind the mission of the company and every day presented a new opportunity to reaffirm my understanding of well-designed software. Although I am only at the beginning of my journey in the world of software development, I am proud of what I have accomplished so far and I am motivated to continue to learn and grow. I have recently taken an little bit of break from work to travel and I am currently in search of my next role. If you have any work that may match my skills, please reach out.
