Alex Q. Huang

About Alex Q. Huang

With over thirty years of experience in U.S. universities, including the past eight years as the Dula D. Cockrell Centennial Chair in Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, my work focuses on addressing critical global challenges through advances in power electronics technology. My expertise spans power semiconductors and power electronics systems. I have mentored more than 100 Ph.D. and master’s students who now contribute to the U.S. power electronics industry, and I have led public–private R&D initiatives with combined funding exceeding $200 million. Alongside my academic role, I also serve as a technical advisor for several startup companies. I have also co-founded a few startups. My mission is to advance innovative power electronics solutions to meet the evolving needs of the industry, fostering collaboration between academia and technology-driven initiatives.
