Alex leads Arup\'s 200-strong Integrated City Planning team in London - a multi-disciplinary group of economists, town planners, urban designers, landscape architects, strategists, and real estate professionals. His work is focused on complex, large-scale real estate development projects including the 1,400-home Perry Barr Residential Scheme for Birmingham City Council (originally conceived as the athletes\' village for the 2022 Commonwealth Games). Alex has been seconded into the Council to provide development and commercial direction, and is now advising on subsequent phases of development which will deliver significant social, economic, and commercial value.

ABOUT ALEX PHILLIPS

Alex is a real estate development professional with over 25 years of cross-sector experience in the UK and internationally. He has led and delivered over £1.2bn of complex mixed-use, multi-stakeholder urban projects, from front-end strategy through to delivery and into operation and disposal. He is a Director within Arup’s Cities, Planning & Design portfolio in London where his work is focused on the realisation of complex, large-scale regeneration strategies, programmes, and development projects. He has led a multi-disciplinary team of 200+ professionals across economics, town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, major projects, and real estate strategy. Key projects include the 1,400-home Athletes\' Village for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the award-winning Clapham Library public private partnership a long-term £2BN strategy to redevelop a 20-acre swath of Belgravia and Victoria, and the redevelopment of the Millennium Dome into The O2.In addition to corporate roles, for six years Alex served on the Board of Governors of Ravensbourne University London where he advised on real estate strategy including the successful acquisition and occupation of a new state-of-the-art post-graduate facility as part of the Greenwich Peninsula Design District.An architect by trade, Alex’s passion lies with the creation of great places for people that deliver significant and enduring economic, commercial, and social value.
