This program offers a unique class format for those seeking a master’s degree in counseling. ABOUT ALEX PETRINO
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, counselor educator, and public servant committed to strengthening mental health systems, education, and community wellbeing, especially in rural and underserved settings.Clinically, I work with adults navigating perinatal and postpartum mental health concerns, anxiety, trauma, and identity related stressors. My approach is grounded in person centered care and informed by EMDR, with a strong emphasis on ethical, affirming, and evidence based practice. I am passionate about helping people feel more resourced, regulated, and connected, both within themselves and their communities.In addition to clinical practice, I serve as a counselor educator, teaching graduate level counseling students and preparing the next generation of ethically grounded, competent clinicians. Teaching and supervision are core parts of my professional identity, and I value mentorship, systems level thinking, and translating theory into real world practice.I also hold leadership roles at the state and regional level within the counseling profession, where I focus on advocacy, professional development, and strengthening the counseling workforce. My work often sits at the intersection of mental health, public policy, and education, bridging clinical insight with governance and community leadership.Beyond counseling, I am an elected school board trustee, where I work on issues related to public education funding, student wellbeing, governance, and transparency.
