ABOUT ALEX MILLER
I\'m a Research Fellow and PhD Candidate at Queen’s University Belfast, with a passion for supporting inclusive and sustainable energy transitions. I currently work on the EmpowerUs Project, a multidisciplinary initiative helping coastal communities across Europe navigate social, economic, and environmental change. Originally from the Maritime provinces of Canada, I grew up with a deep connection to rural and coastal communities - a background that informs my commitment to place-based, community-driven climate solutions. My doctoral research explores how energy policy and historical legacies shape the shift to low-carbon electricity systems in Canada and Northern Ireland. This work was supported by the EU-funded MISTRAL Innovative Training Network. I hold an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Political Science and Aquatic Resources from St. Francis Xavier University. I’m always keen to connect with others working in sustainability, policy, or coastal resilience - feel free to reach out.
