About Alex McCaskey
Quantum computer scientist focused on languages, compilers, software, and programming models for quantum-accelerated high-performance computing systems. Currently serving as the lead architect for the NVIDIA CUDA-Q effort. CUDA-Q provides a single-source, modern C++ approach to heterogeneous quantum-classical computing.I was employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for 7 years working on advancing the state-of-the-art for quantum-accelerated high-performance computing systems. My work began with the development of the XACC quantum programming framework, a system-level service-oriented approach to interfacing with quantum computers in C++. Building on top of XACC, I then founded the QCOR compiler project, a research-oriented language extension for quantum computing natively in C++.
