As a biotechnology and medical device leader, I leverage expertise in innovation, engineering, biology, development of complex systems, clinical trials, and global health to successfully drive projects to commercialization. I am a proven inventor with 29 granted US patents and numerous pending applications in the areas of drug delivery, diagnostics, optical systems, interventional devices, and manufacturing processes. My breadth of career achievement encompasses managing award winning cross-disciplinary teams to guide development of innovative new medical devices and systems from concept through prototype manufacture while engaging both internal and external partners.SELECT CONTRIBUTIONS:• Three time winner of the Wesley J.    Responsible for leading front end innovation for the BD Peripheral Intervention (BDPI) business covering all four platforms (Oncology, End Stage Kidney Disease, Peripheral Arterial Disease, and Venous Disease) following the Stanford Biodesign methodology as well as oversight of the Office of Project Management for BDPI and the R&D labs.Areas of impact include:• Leading the Idea Generation and Evaluation Team (IGET)- Technology scouting - Intellectual property creation - Internal technology development - Evaluation of external technologies• Maintaining oversight of the Office of Project Management and developing a first in class offering to the new product development teams.• Ensuring that the R&D lab infrastructure is maintained and functional to support Innovation and NPD activities• Driving innovation by helping to bring new ideas into the funnel• Co-leading with Marketing the BDPI innovation council that oversees all cross functional projects in the idea phase and ensuring that those projects are ready for matriculation into formal product development. • Managing relationships with universities and other outside organizations to further early stage risk reduction• Helping to drive IP generation by working with teams to generate, document, and submit ideas• Coordinate with other innovation leaders throughout the company to share best practices• Developing tools to manage the early stage idea funnel and provide the necessary information to make the critical decisions on what to move into formal product development.
