Retired federal executive, U.S. Coast Guard veteran, and author dedicated to preserving legacies, advancing innovation, and embracing a \"carpe diem\" philosophy. At Sandia National Laboratories and in the Tri-Lab ASC program, I enhanced scientist/engineer workflows, defined collaborative nuclear simulation environments, and drove productivity improvements.In high-performance computing (HPC), I founded programs to accelerate U.S. parallel processing adoption, co-led ASCI for nuclear stockpile stewardship post-testing moratorium, directed the Nuclear Energy Modeling and Simulation Energy Innovation Hub for virtual reactor modeling, and established the DOE Advanced Computing Technology Team.In nuclear energy, I oversaw modular reactor fuel handling robotics, developed PWR simulation tools, and served as Communications Director for DOE\'s Fukushima Response Team in 2011.Advisory roles included Senior Fellow at the Council on Competitiveness (HPC policy), HPCwire journalism on DOE budgets, Energy Security Index development, ARPA-E small modular reactor advice, and consulting for DC public safety networks, USMC logistics, and more.My foundation: Senior U.S. Coast Guard leadership on cutters in Alaska (search & rescue, law enforcement) and operations centers overseeing multi-region command/control.Passionate about innovation, national security, family, and living boldly.
