Technology Development and Performance Based Design Evaluation: Performed concept development, design, and performance evaluation of complex structural systems including bridges, buildings, tunnels, waterfront facilities, LNG facilities, power plants and aerospace structures. Expertise includes construction staging, seismic performance, soil/structure and fluid/structure interaction, and severe event and accident consequence evaluations.Teaching and Training Practicing Engineers:Provided Workshop Sessions on practical use of advanced analytical techniques to state agencies such as California Department of Transportation, Washington State DOT, Nevada DOT, Arizona DOT, New York State Thruway Authority, and companies including GE Nuclear, Black & Veatch, Bechtel, Savannah River project, and Hanford Nuclear Reservation project.Industry Standard Technical Reviews and Publications:Contributed as member of industry panels for review of new design codes, design/analysis methodology and value engineering of projects including several major seismic retrofit projects of the California toll bridges. Authored technical papers on performance-based design and evaluation methodology. Published work includes a chapter on structural modeling in the Bridge Engineering Handbook by CRC Press.Founding Member, Structural Division Head of SC Solutions:As Division Head, developed work processes, acquired client sponsored engineering projects and led their execution, interfaced with clients. The result: a small group of engineering professionals has grown into an industry leading advanced engineering technology firm.
