I lead a highly capable team of 5 striving to create lasting policy change for people living with or at risk of cardiovascular diseases, overseeing our influencing activities in Westminster and stakeholder management with Government, the civil service and the NHS in England, across four very distinct policy portfolios. I work closely with the Head of Policy to deliver annual planning and reporting, and I am responsible for providing strategic direction to the team in pursuit of these plans, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard, coordinating engagement to ensure our messaging is consistent as well as setting and managing the team’s budget. I provide high-level briefings and political analysis for the Chief Executive and Trustees, represent the BHF at external meetings and events, deputising where necessary. I also support the team pastorally and with their career development through regular 1-1s, performance reviews and a weekly team meeting. I work closely with equivalent peers in Policy, Comms and Marketing to develop joined-up, effective and costed plans to further the BHF’s strategic objectives. This includes the development and delivery of an integrated media, marketing and influencing campaign, with a budget of £300k per year.
