ABOUT ALEX J. MECHABER
Dr. Alex J. Mechaber is Vice President of USMLE at the National Board of Medical Examiners. He and his team oversee policy, operations, strategy and the research agenda for the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) program, the three-step examination for medical licensure in the United States, which is co-sponsored by the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and NBME. Prior to joining NBME, Dr. Mechaber served as professor of medicine, senior associate dean for undergraduate medical education and the Bernard J. Fogel Chair in Medical Education at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine (19••••20). He is a graduate of the University of Miami and received his MD from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL. Dr. Mechaber completed his primary care internal medicine residency and chief medical residency at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. He also completed a general internal medicine fellowship at the UNC at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Mechaber is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
