About Alex Ezell
Leader of technology teams with a long history of web application development. I\'ve been building software on the web since 1998 across a wide swath of industries. For around 10 years, I worked primarily in the email marketing and communication space. I\'m now working for Wikimedia Foundation leading several engineering teams which contribute to the largest free knowledge movement in the world. I have experience in Fortune 500 companies and 5 person start-ups both in the US and abroad.I favor placing people above technologies in all situations. As a manager, I favor a personal approach adapting a team\'s work and style to the people who make up that team. I push for individualized growth plans and acknowledgement and reward processes that recognize the unique contributions of each individual.Instead of focusing on the technology each team generates as some sort of code gate, I see my primary work as ensuring that the right environment exists for my teams to achieve their highest potential. I believe that smart people build great software when they feel supported, safe, and validated.I have a nontraditional education for a technologist with degrees in English and Art History. This led me to pursue teaching at my high school alma mater for two years. I am still highly interested in education, literature, and art.
