ABOUT ALEX DIAL
I am a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering with minors in computer science and data science. I am passionate about leveraging technology to better understand our world and do productive things in it. In my free time, I run the UT Effective Altruism student group, helping students think critically about how they can best use their resources to make the world a better place. I have facilitated various activities, such as an 8-week introductory program, weekly discussions, and large speaker events, on topics like moral uncertainty, global poverty, biorisks, AI safety, and animal welfare. I have also led the growth of the organization from 5 to over 30 total members, with 20 highly active. I am always eager to learn new skills, explore new domains, and collaborate with others who share my values and goals.
