Serve as team lead for multiple concurrent rulemaking projects, performing dual roles of technical writer and subject matter expert on topics ranging from integrity management to emergency response communication-Develop innovative regulatory solutions to prevent recurrence of complex pipeline accidents, safely address emerging industries, and accommodate new technologies-Facilitate group discussion to reach consensus on rulemaking documents with team members from a variety of working groups, including legal counsel, economists, environmental specialists, engineers, and leadership-Advise teammates, other working groups, and leadership on safety and regulatory issues relating to distribution, transmission, and gathering for natural gas, hazardous liquid, and carbon dioxide pipelines-Respond to inquiries from Congress, members of the public, industry interest groups, and non-profit organizations, including representing PHMSA on a panel at a public meeting in Des Moines, IA in June 2023 -Analyze industry standards and provide feedback on appropriateness of incorporation by reference-Oversee research and development projects regarding non-destructive evaluation of composite plastic pipe -Teach new staff on pipeline basics, including the creation of training material (e.g, construction and installation process for natural gas transmission pipelines, basics of pipeline regulations)-Completed PHMSA’s basic leadership development course and serve as occasional acting division director
