As a member of Professor Greg Pottie\'s research group, I took the initiative to work on my own projects while also contributing to group research, focusing on simulated interventions and their impact on model outcome predictions and data poisoning.Key Responsibilities:Investigating pattern recognition and machine learning methods.Conducting research on simulated interventions and their effects on model outcomes.Collaborating with a team of researchers to explore novel concepts and techniques in causal modeling.Leading and contributing to various projects within the research group.Achievements:Explored the effects of different deficits on image classification and simulated concepts of neural plasticity and forgetfulness observed in humans by varying the onset, duration, and end of deficit training.Successfully led a PhD-level research project to completion during Summer 2023, focusing on optimizing training efficiency and model accuracy.Developed a technique using varied ResNet architectures, achieving a 93% in-distribution and 62% out-of-distribution test accuracy while training on just 16% of the total samples typically used by a standard SGD model. This approach has the potential to significantly accelerate training without compromising model accuracy.Skills Acquired:Advanced knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and pattern recognition.Proficiency in research methodologies and project management.Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of researchers.Innovation in developing machine learning techniques for optimized performance.The experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of machine learning and a range of skills applicable in various research and industry settings.
