About Alex Bates
Experienced mechanical engineer with over 10 years in energy storage systems design, fabrication, testing, and characterization including fuel cells, flow batteries, Li-ion batteries, and solid-state batteries. Current projects include safety characterization of solid-state batteries through thermodynamic modeling and experimentation, overcharge abuse of Li-ion batteries, and battery state of health diagnostic tool development and validation. My core competencies include analyzing and interpreting experimental and characterization data to determine failure mechanisms, resolve procedural and experimental complications, and distinguish future pathways and goals.
