About Alex Bachy

I am a Civil Analyst on the transit team at the Northern Virginia Kimley-Horn office. My work ranges from passenger/freight rail, streetcar, light rail transit, and bus rapid transit planning and design. I contribute to my team through the production (i.e, drafting, cost estimates, and local regulation research) of design plans; I produce planning and design documents and reports while managing these tasks and delegating work to newer staff. I am a task manager within the Transforming Rail in Virginia program. Here, I manage the boundary survey. The role includes coordination between the surveyors and VPRA, reviewing plats, and writing weekly reports showing the project\'s progress. Within Kimley-Horn, I also work with our marketing partners to research local CIPs and reach out to people I have prior relations to explore new project opportunities. I am also a member of the Washington Area Railway Engineering Society (WARES), and I sit on the board as the Communication Chair. I maintain the organization\'s website, write our quarterly newsletter, and work with the other board members to organize our in person meetings.
