ABOUT ALEX B.
In 2011 I joined the Lotus Formula One team as a Purchasing Assistant for the build of the 2012 car which took Kimi Räikkönen to points finishes in 19 of the 20 races that season and to 4th in the Constructors’ Championship. In November 2012 joined Mercedes Formula One team during the restructure and for Michael Schumacher’s last races of his career. The team’s restructure ultimately led to 2 world Constructors Championship titles, a record breaking points haul and back to back drivers titles for Lewis Hamilton. In 2014 we secured a record 11 one-two finishes which we beat again in 2015 with 12 such finishes and 16 race victories each year. With 5 years experience as a Technical Buyer in motor racing I have worked with the foremost suppliers in the industry buying products using cutting edge technologies, materials and techniques. In addition to my purchasing role I am the Purchasing Department’s representative in the fault feedback system where I communicate with the team that are at the track side to ensure parts are corrected to avoid any car stopping issues. The role also requires me to attend the race review meeting with senior engineers to analyse any issues that occurred and form a plan to mitigate the problem going forward.
