ABOUT ALESSANDRA QUATTROCCHI
I am a writer: fiction and life narrative, and current affairs: I\'m a professional journalist since 1996 (writing and video making, specialising in international politics and culture). I am now in charge of multimedia features and in-depth report at askanews (long format interviews, podcasts). I graduated summa cum laude in English and American literature from two Universities in Rome and I hold a MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University (Distinction). I\'m also an amateur scholar and passionate consumer of Anglo-American literature and visual storytelling, particularly on streaming platforms. I am Chief editor of the Video news desk for the Italian press agency Askanews. I am a regular contributor to the cultural section of \"Il Venerdì di Repubblica\", one of the major weeklies in Italy, and to the cultural and current affairs section of the digital newspaper La Voce di New York, writing both in Italian and English. I\'m also a lecturer with CeaCapa-Study Abroad for undergraduate American students in Rome.Italian is my native tongue, but I speak and write fluently English and French and I get by in Spanish. I started my professional life proof reading and editing texts for several publishing houses, including De Agostini and Giunti, working for a magazine called \"Musica e Dossier\", and translating from English and French into Italian. I became a professional journalist in Lyon, France where I worked for six years in the multilingual news channel EuroNews, in the Italian team and later in managing positions. My activity as a journalist and team leader of 10+ journalists - checking and proofreading copy - made me translate and edit all sort of texts for years. I also learned managing relationships with the world of PR and communications. I have a rich network of contacts with national and international media. I am a proactive, creative person always in search of newsworthy content, able to tell stories using a variety of sources and means. Since 2005, I have been managing daily a minimum of ten people in my team and maintaining positive cooperative working relationship with other departments. I have a rich Facebook page where you can read me in English and Italian and I am a skilled user of several social media (X, Instagram, Threads): Alessandra Quattrocchi on Facebook with +500 (selected) friends and @AlessandraQu on X. I wrote a book on the silence in Jane Austen\'s last heroines (\"La strategia del silenzio\", Iacobelli) and am currently writing a memoir.
