I am a first-generation college student, born to refugee parents who instilled in me the qualities of perseverance, hard work, and the overall importance of obtaining a strong education.I am on the pre-med track at Middlebury College intending to major in molecular biology and biochemistry while minoring in psychology. Knowing that my parents were unable to attend college, I am actively embracing the challenges experienced in the pursuit of completing an undergraduate education and further education to reach my goals in medicine. The sacrifices my parents had to make while coming to the United States continue to fuel my determination in my academics and to be a positive contributor as a future physician.Outside of the classroom, I am a dedicated NCAA Division Men\'s Soccer player and balance the demands of my rigorous coursework and extracurricular involvements with the necessary commitment of being a student-athlete. My experiences while playing soccer at Middlebury College directly contribute to my developed time management skills and my enhanced abilities to work in a team-oriented environment.With my deeply rooted cultural background, I also am interested in medicine due to its diverse nature. As a physician, I will be able to relate to patients with different cultural backgrounds and promote inclusivity within the clinic and community as a whole.As an emergency room volunteer at Porter Medical Center, I have developed a firsthand experience of medical practices, while also engaging with the local communities located around my college. My positive experiences as a volunteer solidified my interest in working in medicine and helping people by being a physician.Using LinkedIn, I aspire to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for medicine. I would be heavily interested in discussing possible collaboration opportunities, internship or clinical hour experiences, or sharing experiences that come as a first-generation college student.
