ABOUT ALEKSEJ DRINO

Self-driven research scientist and consultant, in love with gene expression regulation and RNAs. Known as a out-of-the-box thinker with an outgoing personality who enjoyes solving problems in a lab or business setting. Accomplishments-PhD in molecular genetics and biochemistry-Development, execution, preparation and publishing of several scientific publications-Successful acquisition of several third-party funding through grant writing-Effective communication of data to collaborators, scientific conferences and media-Consulting in the field of bioinformatic data analysis and visualisation Expertise-Next Generation Sequencing (data analysis and BASH/Python/R scripting: quality control, read mapping, variant calling, transcript quantification and differential expression, data visualization and statistical analysis of high-throughput experiments)-Biochemistry of RNA and protein molecules (gene cloning, chromatographic purification of recombinant proteins, establishment of quantitative biochemical assays, chemical modifications of RNA and proteins)-Machine learning (coding skills of several different architectures i.e. multilayer perceptron, convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks)-Project managment and teaching (successful management of multiple international collaborative scientific projects, teaching practical University of Vienna courses and mentoring of MSc students)-Oral and written presentation of data (presentations of data at international scientific and non-scientific conferences, grant and project writing, good command of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator packages).
