ABOUT ALEJANDRO MELCHOR
I am a biotechnologist with research experience in synthetic biology, neuroimaging, genomics, and machine learning. Throughout my career, I have earned gold medals and multiple awards nationally and internationally across areas such as public policy, environmental innovation, and scientific research. These experiences have also led me to serve as a judge and mentor for biotechnology projects in 8+ countries across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, strengthening my ability to adapt to diverse fields including climate tech, food tech, therapeutics and diagnostics, bioremediation, and AI-driven solutions.I currently serve as the Strategic Partnerships Lead at Clubes de Ciencia México, where I contribute to the coordination of intensive research programs that bring together instructors from leading Mexican institutions and top global universities in the Monterrey chapter. My role spans from administrative and operational responsibilities to aliances development, working to expand the organization’s reach and enhance the learning experience of students through national and international collaborations with key stakeholders.I also have hands-on experience in the startup ecosystem, having worked as Head of Production in a biomanufacturing/foodtech venture. There, I coordinated laboratory operations—from production workflows and maintenance of specialized equipment to prototyping improvements with mechatronics teams, managing packaging and product delivery, and hosting visits to communicate the technology behind our products.My professional interests lie at the intersection of science, innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration. I am deeply motivated by innovation ecosystems where scientists, engineers, policymakers, designers, economists, and creatives converge to develop impactful solutions for humanity and address complex local and global challenges.
