About Alejandra Gómez
PhD Candidate & Research Engineer at the University of Georgia, building decision tools that help transportation agencies invest smarter in infrastructure resilience. I combine geospatial modeling, flood risk assessment, and landscape ecology to identify where stream crossings fail — ecologically, hydraulically, and structurally — and prioritize where to act first. My work integrates flood risk assessment, ecological connectivity modeling, and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis to prioritize stream-crossing interventions — turning complex spatial analyses into actionable guidance for DOTs and infrastructure planners. Currently developing a statewide screening framework for Georgia and a prioritization tool with direct applications to GDOT asset management. I bring strong skills in GIS, Python, Julia, and HPC-based spatial modeling, with experience translating complex analysis into actionable guidance for engineers, planners, and policymakers.
