ABOUT ALEIN Y. HARO-RAMOS
Alein Y. Haro-Ramos, Ph.D, MPH (she/her/ella), is an assistant professor at the UC Irvine Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health and former UC President\'s Postdoctoral Fellow. Her research is about health and social inequities across the life course among racialized communities in the U.S, focusing on the intersection between race, ethnicity, and citizenship status.Alein earned her B.A. in sociology and MPH in Community Health Sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She pursued her doctoral education in health policy, with a focus on Population Health Science, at UC Berkeley. Her doctoral studies were supported by the Health Policy Research Scholars program, a program by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment at UC Berkeley, and the Graduate Division Berkeley Fellowship. Her work has been published in the Journal of Immigrant Health, Preventive Medicine, Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, and Public Health, among others.Her nonacademic work has focused on program evaluations and independent research consulting, including survey development and piloting, data cleaning/analysis, and report writing.
