About Alec Filak
I\'ve been an actuary at Northwestern Mutual since 2015 and am currently on the Underwriting Analytics team. I started my career with a series of yearly rotations in the Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP) to develop a strong understanding of our company and its products. After the ALDP, I worked on the Life Pricing team for 2 years focused on Universal Life before taking my current role on the Underwriting Analytics team. I\'ve used the variety of roles both inside and outside of the Actuarial department to develop my traditional actuarial skillsets (including pricing and reserving) as well as non-actuarial experience (including risk selection analytics, client services, and financial representative compensation).Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, doing anything outdoors, and playing just about any sport - especially soccer and volleyball.
