About Alec Christensen
Substance Abuse Counselor, currently credentialed as a CASAC-T with experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings. I enjoy working one on one with patients, as well as facilitating group sessions. I am passionate about Mental Health Advocacy, Patient Advocacy including members of minority communities and POC, LGBTQIA+ Rights, being the transgender and gender nonconforming community in particular. I am empathetic and success driven and demonstrate a person centered and trauma informed approach. In my counseling approach I utilize Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a focus on harm reduction. I am currently working toward my Bachelor’s in Social Work at Simmons University.
