I\'m a writer and producer. My first novel,\"The White City,\"​ was published by St. Martin\'s Press. Iggy Pop called it \"a grabber.\"​ Richard Powers said it\'s \"a resonant allegory of light and darkness, enlightenment versus degradation, the public glory and private horror of humankind.\"​ Matthew Pearl:\"History and fiction by turns complement and taunt one another.\"​ Michael Cunningham called its author \"the dead real thing.\"​ My writing has been published in The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Rumpus, The Believer, and The Chicago Tribune. I\'ve interviewed writers, rappers, former presidents, soft-rock crooners and Captain Lou Albano, and written and produced shows that have been broadcast online and on History, Discovery, Sundance, A&E, vh1, TruTV, and AMC. In 2013, I was awarded a fellowship from the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Italy. I\'ve also been a visiting writer at New York University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
