About Andy Leavitt

I am driven by collaborating with great people and organizations to deliver policy outcomes that maximize their goals and benefit society. What really gets me excited is identifying a complex issue and letting my mind wander through the maze of potential solutions, ultimately delivering a strategic plan for achieving short, medium and long-term goals. I am currently crushing on all things artificial intelligence and the future of work. So if you don’t find me outside with my family enjoying Michigan’s beauty, I am probably trying to satisfy my curiosities with a podcast or a book. MY WORKPrevious to becoming a partner at Kandler, Reed, Khoury & Muchmore, I served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Dan Kildee and Michigan Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich. In these roles, I supported great leaders and tackled a lot of difficult policy and diplomatic questions.As Congressman Kildee’s Chief of Staff, I helped manage a team that spearheaded the successful effort to release our constituent from prison in Iran. We were also able to re-think a complex federal housing program, repurposing hundreds of millions of federal dollars that led to the tearing down of blighted houses across the country. As Senator Ananich’s Chief of Staff I managed a staff of over 30 employees and developed cutting-edge digital communications tools. During my tenure, the tragedy of the Flint Water Crisis struck his district. I led his response by organizing local community partners, overseeing crisis communications, and implementing his legislative agenda - ultimately securing over two-hundred million dollars.
