ABOUT ALDEN ATKINS
I have practiced law as a commercial litigator for more than 35 years. I have led cutting edge antitrust cases, multi-national litigation, and high-profile cases like the Whitewater investigation. I represent clients in high-stakes matters where hundreds of millions of dollars or more are in dispute. My experience covers a broad range of industries, including airlines, auto parts, cable television, chemicals, computers, construction, credit cards, defense contracting, energy, finance, LNG, oil & gas, polymers, railroads, ship building, telecommunications and transportation. Most of my practice is in antitrust litigation and international dispute resolution. In the antitrust area, I have represented companies in cases alleging restraints of non-price competition, defended merger challenges, and represented both plaintiffs and defendants in multi-district class actions. Representative cases include representing an airline challenging restraints on non-price competition, representing an airline in a putative class actions alleging price fixing for baggage fees and capacity restrictions, representing an auto parts manufacturer in multiple class actions, and representing shippers seeking to recover fuel surcharges from railroads. In international disputes, I have represented companies on inbound disputes in U.S. courts, supervised litigation in foreign jurisdictions, and tried international arbitrations. Representative cases include winning an award of US$ 80 million for a power plant developer in Brazil, winning awards of US$ 90 million for a Middle East government contractor, and representing companies in project financed transactions and joint ventures. I am also an arbitrator for domestic and international disputes. I am a Fellow in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and am on the rosters of the the ICDR, the CPR and other institutions.
