Senior Software Engineer @Chainguard
Lead vulnerability remediation across thousands of open-source projects, owning response for CVEs with significant downstream impact.• Define remediation strategy and prioritization heuristics, balancing exploitability, advisory vs. fix tradeoffs, maintainer capacity, and time-to-risk reduction.• Design human-in-the-loop systems that guard against over-automation, skill atrophy, and false confidence in high-stakes security environments.• Build tooling informed by real pager experience, ensuring automation scales judgment, rigor, and accountability—not just throughput.• Collaborate cross-functionally with security, engineering, and product to evolve durable, trustworthy security workflows.

ABOUT JAMIE ALBERT
I work at the intersection of open source, security, and AI, where mistakes carry real blast radius and judgment matters more than raw speed. I define how AI is safely integrated into security-critical development workflows, informed by direct experience operating large-scale vulnerability remediation. At Chainguard, I lead vulnerability remediation across thousands of open-source projects, owning response in high-severity, high-ambiguity situations. This work requires constant prioritization under constraint—balancing remediation, advisories, maintainer capacity, and downstream risk. I’m transitioning from day-to-day operational leadership into SME on-call coverage, as my focus shifts fully to tooling and systems design.I now lead AI security developer tooling, where my goal is not blind automation, but durable integration. I design systems that teams can trust in environments where correctness matters more than novelty—keeping humans meaningfully in the loop and explicitly guarding against over-automation, skill atrophy, and false confidence. My approach is grounded in lived operational reality. Having held the pager, I’m acutely aware of where automation accelerates good outcomes; and where it becomes dangerous. I focus on building infrastructure that scales discernment, preserves craftsmanship, and enables engineers to move faster without losing rigor or accountability.I thrive in collaborative, high-stakes environments and bring curiosity, strategy, and care to systems that others rely on—but rarely see.
