ABOUT ALBERT DEGARMO
Albert DeGarmo is a Foreign Affairs Officer and Program Manager for the Energy and Mineral Governance Program in the Office of Energy Programs in the Bureau of Energy Resources at the U.S. Department of State. Mr. DeGarmo is a collaborative professional with over 10 years of progressive experience in environmental security, international and interagency policies, and negotiations in scientific and technology cooperation. Mr. DeGarmo holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas State University and a master’s degree in global governance, politics, and security from American University’s School of International Service (SIS). Following the completion of his master’s degree, Mr. DeGarmo was selected as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) for the class of 2015 and joined the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as an International Relations Specialist. In his role in NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) International and Interagency Affairs Division (IIAD), Mr. DeGarmo developed strategic and sustained partnerships that enabled the agency to meet their mission requirements; advocated for science diplomacy; and advanced scientific cooperation to understand and address global environmental challenges.
