ABOUT AL BELLENCHIA
Al Bellenchia is Executive Director and CEO of Columbia-Greene County Habitat for Humanity, which celebrated its 30th year of service in 2023, and in 2024 expanded to serve neighboring Greene County, NY. He joined Habitat in 2021.Following a successful career working with domestic and global organizations and executives, Al has dedicated his talents to local and regional community building and service initiatives.Prior to Habitat, Al was Executive Director of The Abode, a retreat and spiritual center located in an historic 19th century Shaker Village. There he led a multifaceted revitalization effort to extend its ability to provide service to individuals, organizations and communities. Al has years of experience in helping organizations grow and evolve. He has worked at the highest levels of some of the world’s most recognized and admired companies, as well as with numerous small businesses and non-profit institutions.He has driven successful transitions and resolved complex organizational issues, achieving results without upsetting the balance between stakeholder groups. Some of the organizations that Al has worked for or with include: AT & T, CDPHP, DuPont, JP Morgan Chase, MVP Health Care, Yahoo, and many others large and small. After living and working in New York City, Al and his family relocated to the NY Capital region, where he has focused his passion and expertise on organizations that are essential to the region’s economic, cultural and social vitality. Al has become involved in numerous civic and community organizations: He has served as the Chair of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce’s business education programming committee. He was a member of the Board of Trustees for The Friends of Lindenwald (the U.S. National Park Service home of President Martin Van Buren) for many years, and is a past director of the Kinderhook Tri-Village Rotary Club. Al is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He lives in Castleton-on-Hudson, NY with his family.
