ABOUT ALBANY COATE

I am passionate about cooperative space policy, ethics, and law. Particularly the essential role of global space diplomacy in fostering collaborative solutions that ensure our space endeavors and orbital environments remain safe, peaceful, ethical, and sustainable for current and future generations. My interests lie at the intersection of political science and space exploration, with a focus on diplomacy, conflict resolution, interdisciplinary cooperation, and peace-centered strategies as key drivers for responsible and inclusive space governance.Currently, I have the privilege of serving as the Programs Lead for the North America, Central America, and Caribbean (NCAC) Policy & Advocacy Task Force. I work alongside a dedicated team of young professionals and students in various sectors of space research and industry, who share a common vision for a “sustainable, fair, and cooperative future in space.” In this role, I help facilitate meaningful conversations with leaders across the space sector. Spanning policy, diplomacy, technology, ethics, and innovation, to encourage greater participation in shaping space policy across the NCAC region. Being part of this team has been both inspiring and profoundly rewarding.In May 2025, I earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with dual majors in Political Science and American Studies, and a minor in German Language Studies. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have lived and learned on Oʻahu and in Mānoa. An experience that significantly shaped my academic journey, understanding of place, and future professional goals. In Summer 2024, I also had the valuable opportunity to broaden my cultural and linguistic perspectives by studying German abroad at Freie Universität Berlin.I am thrilled to be pursuing a Master\'s degree in International Science and Technology Policy at George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, with a concentration in Space Policy. This chapter continues to strengthen my knowledge, experience, and commitment to contributing to ethical, collaborative, and sustainable frameworks for space governance.
